Due to the isoled nature of their deposition , cave sediments can be valuable indicatiors of paleoclimate when studie by means of the scanning electron microscope. It is therefore possible to reconstruct , not only thec conditions of sedimentation within a cave system, but also yhat of the prevaling surface environment. Futher the similar nature of the local micro-climates in reconstructing macro-cliamtic sequences across South Wales as a whole
